The Girl Who Never Let Her Mother Brush Her Hair

This is a pedagogical story which was created for my fourth child Anna, who was stubborn and did not like getting her hair brushed. I became very imaginative with this girl and she heard this story every day until she started to brush her own hair. I shared it with a mom at a parent/teacher conference for one of my students when she was telling me how stubborn her sweet girl was. This mom told me I needed to publish that story to share with others. It has proven to be helpful to many others with the same dilemma.

The Power of Love
When my two oldest children were five and seven they spent the night at our friends house. The big eight year old boy of the the family, told them scary stories. After that they would not go to sleep unless I was in the room with them. I would lay on the bottom bunk and when they were asleep, I would get up and the bed would go creeek and they would wake up startled and say "don't go Mama". This went on for about three weeks when I spoke to a wise elder about my dilemma. He told me to tell them a pedigogical story. I listened to hear more, but that was all he said. I had to come up with the story! I held it in my consciousness all day but no story came. I sat down later in the day with my children, asked for guidance for the right story, and this is the story that came. I was curious to see what would happen when it was time for bed. How greatful I was when after a story and prayers I was able to leave the room for them to go to sleep on their own.
